History of the Red Bamboo Tea Salon

Red Bamboo Teas originated in Hawaii where it has been part of my family for 3 generations. We buy from small family owned farmers from all over the world. We participated in fair trade before there was Fair Trade 
In many cases, my family are the only ones the farmers sell to in the U.S. The quality of the tea is unlike anything you have ever had and is far and above anything else that is available in our area. Our teas are incredibly strong- one teaspoon is good for a 12 oz steep and you can re-steep it! My family and the families of the tea growers have become quite close in many instances and this link to outside cultures has brought so much to my life!
We carry over 40 of my own blends in our tea salon currently and I plan on increasing that number with new exciting varietals every month. We currently offer White Teas, Black Teas, Green Teas, Rooibos, Chai, Herbal Teas, Yerba Mates, Fruit Teas and will have Pu erh, Oolong and blooming teas by the end of this month. These blends are “artisan” blends meaning they are made in extremely small batches with only the most premium of organic ingredients- it is a difference you will taste with your first sip!
The teas we currently carry can be found at our “tea” link. They are available either hot or iced in the store, and they are sold loose leaf in the store or you may purchase them online as well. We will be organizing tea tastings in the near future- we are soo excited- they are a great deal of fun! Dublin’s own Sugar Inc + Ben & Jerry’s

Yes that’s right, Sugar Inc. Cupcakes & Tea Salon is now carries Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!
You can now stop by any Tuesday – Sunday and get a scoop of ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s, paired with some Red Bamboo Tea or maybe try just after one of our fresh, organic salads….regardless of the way you’d like to explore our eclectic menu of healthy snacks, we promise you’ll enjoy it!!

Ben & Jerry’s is an extremely enviromentally friendly business operation and that’s the way we, at Sugar Inc., choose to live our lives.
Here’s an excerpt on environmental awareness. from the Ben & Jerry’s History Book:
“Plastic: In 1988 we begin sending all of our plastic ingredients buckets to Vermont Republic Industries (VRI) to be reused or recycled. VRI employs people with developmental disabilities.
Cardboard: The production crew purchases a baler to recycle production cardboard, and we find paper brokers willing to arrange pickups to ease pressure on the company’s limited warehouse storage space.”
Now who wouldn’t want to serve an ice cream that is that conscious of assisting the environment?

Sugar Inc Flavors In The News

Ava Misseldine grew up around teas and baking. Originally from Hilo, Hawaii, Ava moved to Ohio to complete her Master’s Degree at Ohio State University. She worked as a chemical engineer for a number of years but the sixteen hour days were starting to be too long. So, she decided to use her background in teas and baking to open Sugar Inc. Cupcakes in Historic Old Dublin.
Sugar Inc. Cupcakes is an elegant space to enjoy teas and cupcakes. She also offers a few delicious salads. She used her engineering skills to design and build the display cases for the cupcakes. I sampled a few of her flavors and they were quite tasty.
Ava always has Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Bean Silk and Dark Chocolate Silk and Dark Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Bean Silk and Dark Chocolate Silk available. I tried the mini-versions of all of the flavors ($1.50 each, Large are $3.75). The cakes were rich and dense. The other flavors were Orange Cake & Silk, Coconut Cake & Silk, Elder Flower & Chamomille Gin, Horchata: Rice & Almond Milks and Cinnamon and Chai Cake with Honey Cream Cheese.
All of the icings were light and sweet, not overly sugary. The standout for me was the Horchata, it had wonderful flavor. The Honey Cream Cheese icing was also very tasty
